We face many challenges in our life, some small, some large. Our business life is no different, especially on days when we get knocked down.

A person disappears from our downline, the great prospect is not calling us back, our cashflow may be tight this month…I know you understand where I am coming from.

So when you get knocked down, what do you do?

I know what Nick Vujicic does.

So when life knocks you down…What are you going to do??

When I first discovered Network Marketing (MLM) and Direct Sales it was such and exciting time.

I thought the most impressive thing with my MLM business was it came with a website. This was great I thought, I could just send people to it and they would sign up to my business or buy product. And what about all the traffic I was going to get from the search engines like Google and Yahoo, I was going to get flooded with leads.

Then came reality check time.

You see I though because I had this company replicated website, people could find me through the search engines. After they found my mlm company replicated website they could then buy my product or sign up under me into my business.

Well I soon discovered several challenges with this theory.

The first challenge with a company provided replicated web site is it’s the same as every other member’s website in your company. Search engines regard this as duplicate content, which they do not like, and thus rank you lower in their listings.

Therefore any intention of your mlm company provided replicated site being on page 1 of the search engines is not going to occur.

The second challenge is it only markets the company and its features, not you. Face it, network marketing is about developing relationships and helping others achieve their goal. Your MLM company replicated site is not going to do this for you.

The third challenge is the intense competition on the internet. Fellow associates in your business opportunity, competitors from other opportunities also have their company replicated sites and they are trying to promote their business as well.

So how do you overcome these challenges. I thought you’d never ask.

First get your own domain name and build your own site. There are numerous companies that provide low cost solutions to getting a domain name, web hosting and site building programs. As you add unique content to your site it will increase the odds of you ranking higher on the search engines.

Secondly, you can now show others that arrive at your site what your offering is. How you can assist them in achieving the goal they have. You become a leader and a teacher to your potential customer or recruit. You are now building the relationship with this potential business partner.

After you develop your relationship you can then send your prospect to your company replicated site. Now they know you and are okay with you sending them there. Here they can purchase any products or services you offer or view your opportunity and join your team.

Best of all you now have a fully automated system working 24 hours a day 7 days a week on your behalf.

I am such a big proponent of generating your own leads rather then buying them from a lead store. Perhaps its because I spent so much money on leads and made no return on the investment.

Here are 7 reasons to generating your own traffic and leads

Control

Generating your own leads in your business gives you total control over one the most integral parts of your business…the marketing. You control the lead flow and you control the mechanism that generates those leads.

Exclusivity

The leads you purchase from a lead provider are not exclusive to you. They have been bought and sold to many different purchasers. Generating your own leads make them exclusive to you and to you only. They saw your message; opted in to receive your message…they belong to you and no one else.

Stability

This goes hand in hand with exclusivity because you have the control. By taking control and generating your own leads you create multiple lead streams all flowing to you and your website. So even if one stream dries up, there are several other streams still producing leads for you.

hype.

Limitless

Purchasing leads from a lead vendor severely limits your choices
to what the vendor sells. By taking control of your own lead generation you are only limited to what works. Consider this, the more effective lead generation systems you have in place, there is no end to the amount leads you can have.

Real Time

Generating your own leads makes them real time which makes them current and valuable. Leads bought at a lead store sometimes can be old, outdated and used up. You put up your opt in page, they opt in and bang you have a real time lead. They are looking for solutions to their challenges, and want you to give them those solutions.

Responsiveness

The leads you generate are more responsive to you and your marketing efforts. They are inclined to hear your message and react accordingly by purchasing your recommended product or service. You can send your best marketing message to
a list of luke warm leads and very little can occur. Send an average marketing message to a list of highly responsive leads you will be amazed the results

Success

Chances of your success are greatly increased by you generating your own leads. The monetization capability is much higher through your lead generation efforts then any other practice. You success is now fully within your control and not in anyone else’s hands.

Hopefully you noticed that all 7 reasons for generating your own leads are interconnecting. Each component gives you one great benefit that find only through your own lead generating efforts…ownership of your business.

No we’re not going to discuss today the advantages or disadvantages of spousal support in the divorce world.

I’m talking about the support, moral and emotional, that you receive from your spouse or partner upon entering or conducting your network marketing business.

The scenario I am about to depict is the most common one I’ve heard and read about.  A friend of mine “lets call him Bob” asked me what I was doing for a living, now that I left my corporate job. I explained to him that I operate a home based business, and gave him some brief background.

He explained that he was tired of his job and the proverbial B.S. that goes along with being unhappy. I asked several questions to see if he was receptive to something new and how willing he was to make a change to his life. He was very receptive.

So I showed him the opportunity and he chose to speak to his wife about it.

Now can you anticipate where this is going?

She had questions, she was against it at first, and then when the picture in her mind was re-adjusted and clarified she realized that what lay before them was a tremendous opportunity.

The point of the matter is this…whoever you show the opportunity to keep in mind if they have a spouse or partner, that persons support and buy in are critical to your new recruit.

I know from my own perspective, my wife has supported me throughout anything and everything I have done.  (Sometimes I wish she would have un-convinced me on some decisions:)  ). She has always supported me on whatever opportunity I looked at and whether I should proceed or not. Even early in my new entrepreneurial life, when I would get down (and it happens to the best of us) she was there to pick me up and smarten me up.

I could not even imagine what my world would be like without her support.

Remember it’s not about coercing or convincing either party into the opportunity…it’s about them being clear and answering any questions they have. Answer the questions, remove the cloud of confusion and you will be amazed at the success you have.

5 Characteristics of a Successful Entrepreneur

The following is what separates the real dye in the wool entrepreneurs from the wanna be’s in our industry  You see there are many, many people searching each and every day for an opportunity to own and operate their own home based business. It can range from affiliate marketing, to network marketing (mlm), direct sales, e-bay business, information marketing to name several.  The reality is while so many people search, request information and opt into mailing lists, a minimal amount will actually take action.

Many people lack the total combination of the 3 D’s. They are Desire, Drive and Decisiveness. Successful entrepreneurs throughout history have always had these 3 qualities. A desire to invent or change, action oriented decision makers, and driven to see it through to the end regardless of the obstacles.

Entrepreneurs Take Action Regardless of Conditions
There are no perfect conditions for the true entrepreneur. They understand that things such as timing or conditions change. Nothing remains static, because business is dynamic and ever changing. Successful entrepreneurs will create their own circumstances and match there strategies to the circumstances and conditions during that time. To the successful entrepreneur there is no such thing as the perfect condition.

Plan and Production Oriented
They know where they want to go and develop a plan to get there. They do not get bogged down in the details of the plan. They decide on the how, when, why and what and implement the plan to its fullest degree. All the while tracking there outcome in case they require the necessity to tweak the plan.

They are productive action takers
They will take productive action throughout the day. They prioritize their day, week and month, to ensure the most important tasks are dealt with in an absolute, timely and productive manner. The successful entrepreneur never allows themselves to develop the habit of busy work. They do work that fulfills the tasks of getting them closer to their goal and end result.

They are resourceful
The successful entrepreneur has a passion for what they do. They display two characteristics of resourcefulness in accomplishing their tasks. If they do not know how to do something they either learn to do it themselves or they find someone who can do it. They are both persistent and patient solving any challenges they face along the way. There are no problems to them, only solutions needing to be developed or found.

They Invest In Themselves
They crave personal development. They search to improve in all facets of their life and know that the education never stops. What they cannot learn from a book or video they seek out in their mentors. They will seek out mentors that have already achieved the results they desire and learn from them. They know the best place to learn is from someone who has the experience they need.

Master these traits and qualities and you to will travel the road of the successful entrepreneur.

Today’s topic something I believe we all encounter during
our lives and at different times.

The feeling of being overwhelmed.

Anytime we start something new or different we already
have an idea of the end results we desire. That’s where
the excitement comes from, the end result we wish to attain.

So if you desire losing weight, in your minds eye you can
already see the body you wish to have. You derive your
excitement in knowing how good you look and feel.

You look great, you have more energy, you feel more vibrant
and you confidence level is increased.

The feeling of being overwhelmed comes from the steps
required to get to your desired end result. Especially if it
entails learning new skills, techniques and strategies.

I am going to apply the next example to a network marketing or
direct sales scenario

Most people will look at what must be accomplished as a whole.
The feeling that follows is a sense of overwhelming dread.

Your mind begins saying things like

* “This is more than I expected”
* “I can’t learn how to use a computer at my age”
* “I don’t want to sell to my friends”
* “This is way too much to do so I’ll just try to to my best”

Already some people will put themselves at odds over what must
be done.

Why?

They have become overwhelmed at the enormity of the
tasks at hand. For some reason we as human beings look at the
tasks we need to accomplish and think it needs to be done all
today. Right away anxiety develops, we tighten up and the
end result is no work is done.

The best way to overcome this is to not focus on the entire
project. The main thing is to focus on just the opening tasks

For example, you just began your network marketing business.
Your goal is to produce a yearly income equal to or greater then
the income from your job.

Essentially the overall goal is
“You want financial and time freedom”

How do I get there you ask yourself. Well a planned must be developed
on what must be done to achieve this goal.

Now your upline will want you to get going quickly, so that you can
achieve some minor success fast. Little successes assists you in realizing
bigger successes are just around the corner. It keeps your confidence
level on the high end of the scale.

Unfortunately as you move along and success does not come as fast,
the tasks increase you become overwhelmed. It gets to the point where you
end up slowing down and eventually stopping or quitting your program.

The following five steps will assist you reducing or perhaps eliminating your
overwhelming feelings.

I am going to keep these steps in the area of business and specific to
network marketing. These particular steps will work with any goals you
wish to achieve.

Step 1
Define Your Goal

Write down the your goal or the end result you wish to achieve

* How much income do you wish to generate?
* What kind of time frame are you looking achieve this goal?

Keep in mind these goals and time frames must be realistic to you
If they are unrealistic to begin with, your subconscious will not accept
what you proposing.

Post the goal where you can see it daily. Post it in the car,
in the bathroom etc… where ever you see fit.

Read it a loud several times a day, preferably in the morning, midday and
prior to going to sleep.  Before going to sleep is especially important,
as it embeds the goal within your subconscious mind.

Step 2
Setting Up The Plan

This to me is the most important step. Picture going on a trip and
the goal is your destination, Setting the plan is the direction you
are going to take to arrive at your destination.

Write down all the tasks you can think of to achieve your goal.

* How am I going to make 50k per year?
* Will I use traditional network marketing or modern techniques?
* Will I use a mix of both?
* Do I know how to set up a website or blog?
* What must I do to learn these new skills?

You see as you write these questions down, your brain works to answer them and
in some cases it will raise additional questions. This is good because
the more detailed your plan, the more concise the steps are in achieving your goal.

Once you complete this step, it is now time to prioritize all the tasks
from the starting point to the end. This may take some time and require some rework,
but that’s okay.

Upon completing the task list, you must now contemplate the time to perform and
complete your plan. Some task will require little time while others my require
hours or days. Be realistic with your time frames, take into account what else
is going on in your life at this time.

This is your blueprint to success.

Step 3
Work The Plan

Now each task is listed and prioritzed. Here comes the best part…start working
your plan

Focus only on the first three tasks. Other then these first three
steps, the remainder of your plan does not exist. No other part of your
plan can be started until the first three things are completed. Remember the old
adage:

How do you eat an elephant? One chunk at a time.

Working your plan in this manner is referred to as “Chunk it down”

Step 4
Avoid distraction.

Perhaps the first task is to learn about your company, how they do business
the benefits of using your company’s products or services. You anticipate it will
take 4 solid hours to learn. You decide to break this up into 2 hour intervals
over 2 evenings. During these 2 hours, email and internet is off, cell phones are
on silent, you lock yourself in your room and you learn about your company.

Upon completion of the first three tasks of your plan, proceed to the next
three tasks to be accomplished.

Step 5
Re-visit Your Plan Often

Go back to your plan and ensure you are following it to a tee.
Are you completing each task? Are tasks done on time?
Do you need to adjust your timeframe (shorter or longer)

Keep this analogy in mind. When a rocket is fired, millions of calculations
are conducted to ensure it reaches it destination. When the rocket begins
to go off course and it will, more calculations are done and then implemented
to put the rocket back on course.

This is what you are going to do by re-visiting your plan and making minor
subtle adjustments to it.

Here is a tip that works very well. At the end of the day prior to retiring for
the evening, write out what must be done the next day. What tasks must be done
to keep you moving in the direction of your goal.

By writing down the tasks, while you’re sleeping your sub concious mind will
be at work figuring out what to do and how to do it. When you awake in the morning
and start your day you are more apt to jump right in and do the tasks.

Follow these five steps and it will provide you a solid foundation for your
business goals.
