The Princess and The Frog…And What It Means To Your Network Marketing Business

I just came back from taking the family to see the Disney movie “The Princess and The Frog.” This is another great movie from Disney and as I was watching my 5 year old twins devour their small buckets of popcorn, I just had to smile. I was smiling because I was extremely grateful at the fact, here we were several days removed from Christmas, enjoying more family time together.
As I watched this incredible Disney movie, (Disney just knows how to make a captivating movie for the entire family don’t they) I was really caught up in the story line.
What caught my attention the most was how the movie, captured to the core, exactly what happens to people when they attempt something new, or have a great big dream to attain.
Here is the main character Tiana, who does not believe in wishes or fairy tales. She believes in her father’s dream (which becomes her dream) to open a restaurant down in New Orleans by the docks. Now keep in mind Tiana is probably around 5 years of age, as her and her father talk about this restaurant and how they are going to open it one day.
She’ll be the chef, her father the maitre’d and owner. They even have a picture of a restaurant, ripped from a magazine, and written in blue marker on it, calling it ‘Tiana’s Place’. It’ll be the hottest spot in the city where everyone visits…one of swingest party places in town!
Fast forward now to present day, where Tiana is grown up, probably around 22 or so. She comes home to her bedroom and puts away the tips she collected from her waitressing job. This is all going toward the fund for her downpayment to purchase the old sugar mill by the dock and fulfill her father’s and her dream.
She then collapses on her bed from exhaustion.
The unfortunate part is, her father has passed away and will not live to see his dream come true.
Yet Triana does not relent, she does not give up, she will see this dream through to the end.
She ends up working two jobs so she can collect enough money for the down payment.
One boss tells her she’ll never achieve her dream and she had best stay where she was.
Her friends want her to come dancing, she must work she replies to their invitation. They scoff at her, talking behind her back that she never wants to have fun.
Still she does not give up, even when it seems hopeless. She collects enough money for the downpayment. She has an agreement between her and the sales agents, she is just waiting for them to get the paper work ready.
When she see’s them later that evening and inquires about the paper work, the sales agents give her the bad news. Someone else has offered more for the place and she should just stick with what she is doing now and not take such a big risk.
Now I am not going to give the whole movie away…but in the end greatness is achieved (it is a Disney movie). Only after many set backs, failures and struggles does she win out in the end.
I know, I know…so how does this relate to my network marketing business you’re thinking? Well consider this for a moment. In my brief summary of the movie, what does Tiana have besides a dream? Think about if for a moment…have you got it yet?
She has FAITH, an undying faith in what her dream is. How she is going to achieve this dream through her dedication to it, her hard work regardless of the obstacles.
Even with all the nay sayers and dream stealer’s wanting to hold her back she continued on. They were too blinded by their own myopic view of their complacent lives.
She held steadfast to her dream.
My point is this…when you began your network marketing business, when you joined the industry, you did so for a reason. You had a dream, a vision of earning additional income to help you achieve certain things. Perhaps it was an extra several hundred dollars to pay the bills, or sock away for the education fund, retirement nest egg, or buy a bigger house. Maybe your dream was even bigger, like replace your full time incomes, say goodbye to your day job and be your own boss.
Maybe it was even bigger still…True financial and wealth freedom. Earning an income on autopilot so you could enjoy doing the things you always wanted to do…like Tiana, live your dream.
Yet along the way…things happened. You came across some friends and family who ridiculed your decision. They said to you things like:
“You didn’t join one of those pyramid schemes did you”
“You’ll never get rich doing that”
“You’re just throwing away your money, it’s a scam”
“Only the people on top make the money.”
You marched on and even sponsored some people along the way. The only thing that occured there was they bailed or gave up several weeks to months later. The only thing you had to show for it was no one returning your phone calls, a few dead legs in your downline and whole bunch of wasted time trying to convince people this will work.
Still determined you move on to buying leads from a lead company or from whoever your sponsor recommended you buy from. That’s how the top guys did it so now you have new life…only to realize after several months this doesn’t work either.
you realize the only thing you’ve accomplished is:
-wasting more time and effort
-increasing the amount of credit card debt you have
-having friends and family say “I told you so.”
You sit rejected and dejected in the Starbucks, getting up the nerve to speak to one more person there about your opportunity. Only to be rejected once again by the guy or gal who was sitting down to enjoy their skinny vanilla non fat latte.
It’s not supposed to be this way.
This is not how it was presented to me you think to yourself:
-Make a list of my warm market
-Buy some leads
-Speak to anyone that will listen
-Get three who get three and I’m living on the beach.
Draw the parallel between Tiana, in the movie, to you here in the reality of life.
How much failure are you willing to endure before you toss in the towel and give up on your dream?
How much faith do you have how deep down inside you?
Do you have undying faith in your dream?
Are you willing to suffer through the pain and rejection to reach the promised land of your dreams?
You see here is the funny part…a majority of people say they will do anything to achieve their dream. Yet within our industry of Network Marketing and MLM it suffers from a 95-97% drop out rate.
A majority of people say they will do anything to achieve that dream, not truly realizing what ‘doing anything’ really means. You see the network marketing top earners know what it takes. They encountered the same challenges the other 95%-97% did.
They just never gave up…
and they also had a plan.
